The Mission Wealth team in Santa Barbara recently took time off from their regular duties to make a significant impact in the local community. Leveraging the firm’s Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program, the group came together to support The Bucket Brigade, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community in times of crisis and beyond.
About The Bucket Brigade
The Bucket Brigade, originally formed in response to the devastating 2017 Thomas Fire and subsequent flooding in Montecito, has played a crucial role in helping the community recover from disaster. Initially focused on organizing and deploying volunteers for mud and debris removal from over 100 homes, The Bucket Brigade has since expanded its efforts to promote community resilience through sustainable agriculture. One of their most recent initiatives is the establishment of a garden where volunteers can learn regenerative, organic farming practices while fostering connections with their neighbors.
The Mission Wealth volunteers spent the afternoon at The Bucket Brigade’s Humanitarian Garden, where they picked a variety of fresh vegetables, including carrots, zucchini, and green beans. After harvesting, they carefully washed and packed the produce into crates, resulting in a total of 275 pounds of fresh food. This bountiful harvest will go on to feed 500 families in need through the Santa Barbara Unity Shoppe, an organization that provides essential resources to those facing difficult times.

In addition to supporting families, any produce deemed unsuitable for human consumption is donated to the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network. This local organization cares for rescued, injured, or orphaned wildlife, rehabilitating them for eventual release back into their natural habitats. Through this partnership, the efforts of Mission Wealth’s volunteers are not only helping people but also supporting the wellbeing of the local ecosystem.
Mission Wealth Cares
At Mission Wealth, making a positive difference in the community is not just a mission statement—it’s a way of life. By participating in initiatives like those at The Bucket Brigade, the team is proud to contribute to a stronger, healthier, and more resilient Santa Barbara.
