As markets continue to shift, having clarity about what’s driving performance and how it may impact your long-term financial goals becomes increasingly important. Each quarter, our Investment Team analyzes the economic landscape, Federal Reserve policy, global valuations, and market opportunities to provide investors with a grounded perspective on what’s ahead.

Whether you’re evaluating your current strategy, planning for retirement, or navigating a major life transition, these insights can help you make more informed decisions. If, after reviewing our Q1 Market Perspectives, you’d like to discuss how this environment may affect your personal financial plan, we invite you to schedule a complimentary consultation with a Mission Wealth advisor.

Below is a brief overview from our Chief Investment Officer, Kieran Osborne, along with a link to our full Q2 Market Perspectives deck for deeper insights.

Market Update

Despite periods of volatility, stocks have rebounded from the March lows as resilient economic growth and generally strong corporate earnings have supported investor sentiment, even in the face of ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. Earlier market volatility and divergence in returns were driven by concerns surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) disruption, elevated market concentration, and stretched valuations, while more recent volatility has been associated with conflict in the Middle East. The divergence in performance across asset classes reinforces the importance of broad diversification and disciplined portfolio rebalancing. Bond yields have recently moved modestly higher as inflation expectations increased alongside elevated energy prices.

Economic Outlook

Despite geopolitical uncertainty, underlying economic growth has remained more resilient than anticipated, with GDP growth estimates revised higher and the economy currently expected to expand 2.3% in 2026. Economic data continues to indicate positive momentum, while the probability of a near-term recession has declined. The labor market appears to be stabilizing, and consumer spending remains supported by healthy household balance sheets. Over time, increased AI adoption may contribute to improved productivity growth. We continue to closely monitor inflation and the impact of elevated energy prices. Given ongoing uncertainty surrounding inflation and energy markets, we believe the Fed remains in a wait-and-see posture, though policy direction still appears biased toward lower interest rates over time.

Investment Positioning

The current economic backdrop may remain supportive for both stocks and bonds, though we remain mindful of elevated valuations, inflation risks, and market concentration. International and emerging market equities continue to trade at a discount to U.S. equities and may benefit from supportive fiscal policies, increased intra-regional trade activity, and ongoing AI-related investment. Bond yields remain relatively attractive, with many of our preferred bond funds yielding in the mid- to high-single digits. We also believe alternative investments may continue to offer attractive long-term risk-adjusted return potential.
