Mission Wealth is a proud supporter of the Maritime Museum and on Saturday I attended their annual Gala with 120 attendees celebrating the “Four Nations” theme.

With a rich maritime history, the Chumash, Spain, Mexico and the U.S. were all well represented through the food, décor and the costumed soldiers (“soldados”) who greeted us. While there were many great live auction items sold, the highlight of the night was the honoree, Ernie Brooks II, a photographer, environmentalist, educator, and former president of the Brooks Institute. Ernie presented the Museum with a check for $100,000, which is an unrestricted gift, and will be partially used to upgrade the Museum lighting and better showcase the variety of exhibits on display.

Mission Wealth’s own Renee Hennessee’s son, Owen, was the featured student at the Gala. He attended the Tall Ship overnight program last year as a 4th grader, and he relayed to the audience his experiences of what life was like for a sailor in the 1880s.
