How Mission Wealth Serves Tech-Industry Professionals

At Mission Wealth, we help tech executives and employees maximize their benefits and finances. Your Wealth Advisor can guide you through complex equity compensation and help you plan for a secure future. We have years of experience working with professionals from companies like Microsoft, Google, and Meta.

Stock & Equity Compensation Strategy

We help you maximize your combined earnings, reduce taxes, and create a strategy for your life and financial goals. Many tech professionals receive a mix of stock options and equity-based pay. Here's how we help you make the most of each type:

  • RSUs (Restricted Stock Units)—RSUs are shares of company stock granted to you that vest over time—typically based on your continued employment or performance. We will guide you on when to sell your RSUs, how to plan for the tax impact at vesting, and how to align them with your financial goals.

  • ISOs (Incentive Stock Options)—ISOs give you the right to buy company stock at a set price, often lower than market value, and can offer favorable tax treatment if certain conditions are met. We can evaluate when to exercise your options, manage the risk of holding concentrated stock, and help avoid surprises from the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).

  • NSOs (Non-Qualified Stock Options)—NSOs are also options to buy stock at a set price, but they don't get the same tax benefits as ISOs. When you exercise NSOs, you typically pay taxes on them as ordinary income. Your Wealth Advisor can help you plan when to exercise and sell. This can lower your taxes and fit into your overall investment strategy.

  • ESPPs (Employee Stock Purchase Plans)—ESPPs let you buy company stock—often at a discount—through automatic payroll deductions.
We will assess whether participating in your ESPP makes sense for your goals, help you avoid common tax pitfalls, and develop a plan for holding or selling shares based on your risk tolerance.

  • Stock Grants—Stock grants are shares awarded to you, either outright or with certain restrictions, often as a sign-on bonus or reward. Like RSUs, we advise on the best time to sell, the tax implications, and how to fold these into your long-term financial strategy.

Tax Optimization & Projections

Tax laws are constantly evolving, and proactive planning becomes essential when your compensation includes equity, bonuses, and deferred income. We help you stay ahead by developing personalized tax strategies that reduce what you owe and keep more of what you earn.

We align every move with your bigger financial picture, like timing stock sales, maximizing deductions, and contributing strategically to retirement accounts. Our goal is to help you minimize surprises and make tax season feel like just another step in your wealth-building journey.

Diversification & Risk Management

Many tech professionals build significant wealth through company stock—but too much in one place can increase risk. Our stock concentration planning helps you reduce overexposure while staying on track for long-term growth.

We’ll assess your holdings and create a plan to diversify and reinvest strategically so you can protect what you’ve earned and unlock new opportunities—regardless of how your company stock performs.

One way to mitigate stock concentration risk is through a 10b5-1 plan, which is specifically designed to address the insider trading challenges executive-level employees, directors, and officers face. A 10b5-1 plan allows employees and executives with equity compensation to automatically sell company stock as it vests without being subject to insider trading rules or blackout windows.

Financial Independence Planning

Whether you’re rising through the ranks at a major tech firm, building the next breakout startup, or starting to think about life after tech, we offer personalized financial strategies to match your career stage and goals.

From maximizing equity during high-growth years to navigating early retirement and liquidity events—we’re here to ensure your money is working just as hard as you are. With a thoughtful, goal-based plan, you can grow your wealth, reduce taxes, and create the freedom to live life on your terms.

Comprehensive Wealth Management Solutions

Your life isn’t static—and your financial plan shouldn’t be either. We combine investment management, financial planning, tax strategies, estate planning, and charitable giving into one cohesive, personalized plan.

As your career and life evolve, we ensure your plan evolves with you—so you can focus on big moments and milestones without the stress of outdated spreadsheets or one-size-fits-all advice.
