Joey’s Frequently Asked Questions

A new client can expect a thoughtful, organized, and approachable experience from the start. Joey begins by listening carefully to understand what matters most to you, what questions are on your mind, what has or has not worked in the past, and what you hope to feel more confident about going forward. From there, he helps turn the full picture into a clear plan, explains options in plain language, and identifies which decisions matter most right now. Communication is direct, calm, consistent, and educational, with clear guidance on what is being addressed, why it matters, and what comes next. Most importantly, Joey works step by step with clients to build a plan that feels understandable, realistic, and aligned with what matters most to them.

Professional Background

Joey holds a Master of Science Degree in Personal Financial Planning and Client Psychology from the College for Financial Planning and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with minors in Philosophy, Law, and Society from Cornell University. He also completed the prestigious Behavioral Finance Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School, which only accepts 1-2 financial advisors worldwide each year.

His certifications include Accredited Behavioral Finance Professional, Accredited Wealth Management Advisor, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist, and Chartered SRI Counselor.

In addition to his work at Mission Wealth, Joey is also an adjunct professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He teaches a course called “The Psychology of Wealth,” which focuses on behavioral finance within wealth management. The course helps students identify common financial decision-making errors and provides strategies for avoiding them.

Joey also brings a wealth of experience to his role as Senior Wealth Advisor at Mission Wealth. He honed his skills as a Financial Advisor at one of the largest independent planning firms in the country, where he successfully implemented financial plans and investment portfolios for his clients. Prior to that, he worked as a Financial Analyst on a team that managed investment strategies for ultra-high-net-worth individuals with a net worth of 9-10 figures.

Personal Pursuits
